Ukrainian drones strike three more Wildberries warehouses in Russia

Resumen

Ukrainian drone attacks hit Wildberries distribution centers in St. Petersburg, the Leningrad region and Crimea, prompting the retailer to relocate stock and assure no casualties.

Ukrainian drones targeted three Wildberries warehouses overnight, hitting sites in St. Petersburg, the surrounding Leningrad region and Simferopol in Crimea, the e-commerce firm said on Friday. Video from the scene showed thick plumes of smoke rising from the facilities.

Wildberries founder Tatyana Kim said the company was able to evacuate staff and protect most of the inventory, adding that preliminary reports indicated no casualties. She said the firm was reallocating goods among its remaining warehouses to maintain stock turnover and support its business partners.

The attacks mark the fourth strike on Wildberries facilities since the weekend and bring the total number of warehouses hit since July 18 to eight, representing more than 10% of the retailer’s logistics capacity. The company, which processes over 20 million orders daily, said it continued to fulfill orders, with most placed by Reuters reporters delivered on time.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Ukrainian forces had also struck a Russian missile site in the Kyiv region, killing six people. He described the Wildberries sites as logistics hubs that support Russian military supplies, a claim the Kremlin has denied.

Wildberries and rival Ozon together account for about 8.5% of Russia’s gross domestic product and employ roughly 4 million workers, or over 5% of the national workforce.
