Eagles consider trading five roster players ahead of training camp
Philadelphia Eagles general manager Howie Roseman is reportedly open to moving five depth players, including a cornerback, offensive tackle, wide receiver and two quarterbacks, as the team finalizes its roster for the upcoming season.
The Philadelphia Eagles are evaluating five players on the roster as potential trade assets before training camp begins. Cornerback Kelee Ringo, a 2023 third-round pick, struggled in preseason, committing several penalties and losing the starting job to Adoree' Jackson. Although he contributes on special teams, the team’s depth at cornerback includes Quinyon Mitchell, Cooper DeJean, Riq Woolen, Jonathan Jones and Michael Carter, making Ringo expendable.
Offensive tackle Cameron Williams could also be moved after the Eagles secured a strong starting duo in Lane Johnson and Jordan Mailata, along with swing tackle Fred Johnson and a promising third-round pick, Markel Bell. A modest performance in preseason could fetch a late-round draft pick.
Undrafted wide receiver Darius Cooper, who posted nine catches for 92 yards in 13 games last season, is another candidate. With new additions such as first-round pick Makai Lemon, trade acquisition Dontayvion Wicks and free-agent signing Hollywood Brown, the Eagles have increased depth at receiver, allowing Cooper to be considered by teams seeking a developmental prospect.
Quarterback Tanner McKee, a three-year backup, remains on the trade radar. While his market interest has waned, the Eagles might entertain a conditional third-round pick if a suitable offer emerges, given his role as the primary backup behind Jalen Hurts.
Veteran quarterback Andy Dalton, who saw limited action in spring practices, is also listed as a possible trade piece. Teams in need of an experienced backup could acquire him for a sixth-round pick.
"We are always looking at ways to improve our roster and create value for the organization," a spokesperson for the Eagles said.
The projected compensation for the players ranges from a sixth-round draft pick for Williams and Dalton to a conditional third-round pick for McKee, with the other players likely to be exchanged for comparable depth pieces.
