Red Sox lose streak as Orioles win doubleheader, Bradish signs extension
The Boston Red Sox saw their 15-game winning streak end in a split doubleheader against the Baltimore Orioles at Fenway Park. A rainout earlier in the day forced the teams to postpone the originally scheduled game, and The Boston Globe reported that the clubs arranged a split doubleheader with corresponding roster moves and injury updates. The Globe also noted that left-hander Jake Bennett was slated to start the afternoon game while the Orioles countered with Dean Kremer, as Boston pursued a franchise-tying 15th straight win. According to AP News, the Red Sox won the first game 6-3, matching the club’s historic record for consecutive victories.
Bleacher Report later confirmed the win and added that the Sox lost the second game, causing the streak to end. ESPN reported that Baltimore captured the nightcap 5-1, with Kyle Bradish allowing one run over six innings, and the Orioles extended their own winning run to seven games. Yahoo Sports said the Orioles subsequently secured a long-term contract for Bradish as the series concluded.
