Mega Millions $800 million jackpot ticket purchased near Sarasota

Resumen

Florida Lottery officials said the sole winning ticket for the $800 million Mega Millions jackpot was sold at a Wawa store in Bradenton, east of Lakewood Ranch.

The lone ticket that matched all six numbers in the July 28 Mega Millions drawing was sold at the Wawa located at 14510 State Road 70 E. in Bradenton, Florida, officials said on July 29. The numbers drawn were 34-48-49-59-70 with the Mega Ball 12, ending a 37-drawing rollover streak.

Florida Lottery Secretary Reginald Dixon praised the win, noting that each ticket supports education funding in the state. The winner can opt for the advertised $800 million annuity or a cash option estimated at $344.2 million before taxes. The prize is the largest lottery award in Florida since the $1.602 billion Mega Millions jackpot in August 2023.

Two additional tickets won multi-million prizes in the same drawing: a ticket in Illinois earned $5 million with a 5X multiplier, and a ticket in New York collected $3 million with a 3X multiplier. The Mega Millions jackpot will reset to its base level for the next drawing on July 31.

Florida law requires lottery winners’ names and residence information to be disclosed, though winners of $250,000 or more receive a 90-day temporary exemption from public release unless they waive it. Prizes must be claimed within 180 days of the draw, with the cash option claim period limited to the first 60 days.
