Florida ticket wins $800 million Mega Millions jackpot

Resumen

A Mega Millions ticket sold in Bradenton, Florida matched all six numbers in Tuesday's draw, securing an estimated $800 million prize, the third jackpot of the year.

A single Mega Millions ticket purchased at a Wawa convenience store in Bradenton, Florida, matched all six numbers in the July 28 drawing, awarding an estimated $800 million jackpot. The winning combination was 34, 48, 49, 59, 70 and Mega Ball 12.

The holder may elect to receive the full amount through a 30-year annuity or a lump-sum cash option of roughly $344.2 million before taxes, according to the lottery operator. This prize is the third Mega Millions jackpot won in 2024 and ranks among the ten largest jackpots in the game’s history.

Florida has now claimed or shared six Mega Millions jackpots since joining the game in 2013, including the record $1.602 billion prize won in August 2023. Tuesday’s draw also produced 645,993 winning tickets at lower prize levels. Two tickets matched the five white balls, earning $3 million in New York with a 3X multiplier and $5 million in Illinois with a 5X multiplier. Fifteen tickets matched four white balls plus the Mega Ball, with Florida winners receiving $20,000 and $30,000 prizes.

The jackpot had grown over 38 consecutive drawings since a $60 million prize was won in Ohio in March, during which more than 10.9 million tickets were sold and non-jackpot prizes exceeded $273 million. The odds of hitting the Mega Millions jackpot remain 1 in 290,472,336, with overall odds of winning any prize at 1 in 23.

The Mega Millions jackpot will reset to an estimated $50 million for the next drawing on Friday, July 31, while the Powerball jackpot stands at about $663 million for Wednesday’s draw.
