Jason Alexander apologizes to Courtney Stodden for 2012 sketch
The actor expressed regret and offered a formal apology after Courtney Stodden accused him of inappropriate behavior in a comedy sketch filmed when she was a minor.
Jason Alexander said he regrets his participation in a 2012 comedy sketch that featured Courtney Stodden, who was 17 at the time, and apologized for any harm the material caused her. "Looking back at the comedy sketch in which Ms. Stodden and I participated in 2012, I completely agree that it was inappropriate and I truly regret it," Alexander told a media outlet, adding that he is "deeply sorry for any harm or distress it has caused Ms. Stodden."
Stodden, now 31, had earlier posted on Instagram alleging that during the Funny or Die sketch Alexander repeatedly rubbed a cellphone across her chest and made jokes about her lack of signal, as well as comments about taking her "behind the couch" once she turned 18. She said the sketch was produced while she was a minor and that contracts were signed by adults, with earnings directed to her then-husband, Doug Hutchison, whom she married at 16. Stodden, an advocate against child marriage, has repeatedly spoken out about adults she says exploited her during her teenage years.
