Bald eagle Jackie remains in critical care after rescue near Big Bear
San Dimas Raptor Rescue team retrieved a weakened bald eagle near Big Bear Lake after it was observed fighting with two other eagles, and officials said the bird was likely the livestream-featured individual known as Jackie, ABC7 Los Angeles reported. The raptor was then transported to the Ojai Raptor Center for veterinary care, according to the same outlet. Los Angeles Times added that the bird was believed to be the nest-cam eagle Jackie.
Veterinarians at the center later noted that Jackie, a 14-year-old female, was suffering from severe anemia and kidney inflammation, USA Today reported. Blood work was ordered to determine whether toxins were involved, and the tests remained pending as the bird’s condition stayed critical, the outlet added. The facility continued intensive treatment while officials awaited results, confirming the cause of illness remained unknown.
