Tate brothers detained in Miami as UK seeks extradition on rape and trafficking charges

Resumen

Andrew and Tristan Tate were arrested in Miami on a sealed warrant, and British prosecutors announced additional rape, sex-trafficking and child-image offences, with the UK moving to extradite the brothers.

The United States Marshals Service confirmed that influencer brothers Andrew Tate, 39, and Tristan Tate, 38, were taken into custody in Miami, Florida, on Sunday under a sealed warrant. British authorities said they will request the pair’s extradition to face a series of new charges, including rape, sex trafficking and offences involving indecent images of a child.

The Crown Prosecution Service detailed that Andrew Tate is charged with seven counts of rape, three counts of sex trafficking, three counts of assault and 19 additional offences related to indecent images of a child and extreme pornography. Tristan Tate faces one count of sexual assault, two counts of rape and three counts of arranging or facilitating sexual-exploitation trafficking.

These allegations add to the 21 charges the brothers already face in the United Kingdom, which involve rape, human trafficking and actual bodily harm concerning three victims. The new charges increase the number of alleged victims to seven, with the alleged offences said to have occurred between July 2010 and August 2017.

The Tate brothers, who hold dual U.S. and U.K. citizenship, previously fled Romania after being arrested there in 2022 on separate, unrelated rape and human-trafficking accusations. Both have denied the current charges.

"We will continue to pursue justice for the victims and ensure that the law is applied fully," a Crown Prosecution Service spokesperson said.

The arrests come amid ongoing legal battles for the brothers in multiple jurisdictions.
