Flash Flood Warnings Issued for Highway 90 and Hill Country as Heavy Rain Continues
Authorities have placed flood warnings along U.S. Highway 90 and in the Hill Country after renewed heavy rain, with rivers rising and the risk of additional thunderstorms through tonight.
Heavy rain has intensified west of San Antonio, prompting flood warnings for large sections of U.S. Highway 90 and the surrounding Hill Country. Meteorologists said rivers are flowing faster and have reached minor flood stage, though conditions could worsen quickly, urging residents near waterways to stay alert.
At 6:24 a.m., radar indicated expanding rain coverage, with the heaviest precipitation over Frio, Medina and Uvalde counties. Forecasters noted the potential for severe weather, including strong winds and rotation, and expected further activity around San Antonio during the morning commute.
The flood risk is expected to persist from San Antonio westward through the night, with the possibility of torrential rain and additional flooding. Activity may lessen in the afternoon, but another bout of heavy rain could develop Wednesday night into Thursday morning. Drier weather is forecast for Saturday and Sunday.
