UFC chief says Conor McGregor's desired bout with Max Holloway remains uncertain

Resumen

UFC president Dana White said scheduling a fight between Conor McGregor and Max Holloway cannot be planned until McGregor completes knee surgery and recovery, noting the timing for both fighters is unpredictable.

Conor McGregor indicated on social media that his next opponent should be Max Holloway, despite having suffered a serious knee injury that ended his UFC 329 comeback in just over a minute. McGregor, who believes the result of that fight should be changed to a no-contest, has yet to undergo surgery and will require an extended rehabilitation period.

UFC CEO Dana White told the Spinnin Backfist podcast that the organization cannot commit to a McGregor-Holloway matchup at this time. > "Conor still has to have knee surgery and go through everything he’s going to have to go through. I understand he’s very unhappy with the way shit played out but you’re a human being, you’re older, you haven’t fought in five years and Father Time is undefeated."

White added that the future of both fighters is uncertain, noting that Holloway has not indicated a willingness to wait indefinitely. He said the UFC will only consider match-making options once McGregor completes physical therapy and is cleared to train full-time. > "When Conor reaches out and says ‘I finished all my physical therapy, I’m in a good place, they told me I can train full time now,’ we’ll start thinking about what’s next."

The UFC president also said no promotional plans have been developed for McGregor’s eventual return, emphasizing that any decisions will be made after the Irish fighter is medically cleared and ready to compete.
