Adesanya suggests McGregor may have entered UFC 329 with a pre-existing knee issue
Israel Adesanya observed that Conor McGregor appeared to avoid putting weight on his right leg before his bout with Max Holloway, raising questions about when the knee injury occurred.
Conor McGregor suffered a right-knee injury 69 seconds into his UFC 329 fight against Max Holloway at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas and will require surgery. During a post-fight interview on "Precision with Mighty & Izzy," UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya noted that McGregor removed his shoes at the prep point and did not place weight on his right leg, suggesting the injury may have pre-dated the first high kick.
"I have eyes. When they did the replay and he took the Crocs off, he didn't put weight on that right leg," Adesanya said.
Adesanya added that the injury could have occurred during warm-up activities, citing similar incidents involving other fighters. Co-host Demetrious Johnson asked whether a warm-up mishap was possible, to which Adesanya replied that it was plausible but not certain.
"He could have hurt himself in the warmup. Even Brian Ortega hurt himself being announced in the octagon, so crazy stuff happens in the cage. Who knows?"
