Google Pixel 11 to feature first 2nm smartphone processor and new MediaTek modem

Resumen

Google's upcoming Pixel 11 lineup will use TSMC's 2nm Tensor G6 chip and a MediaTek M90 modem, offering up to 12 Gbps 5G speeds and satellite connectivity.

Google is set to launch its Pixel 11 series on Aug. 12, and a recent report indicates the devices will be powered by the company's Tensor G6 chipset, the first smartphone processor built on TSMC's 2-nanometer process. The move would place the Pixel ahead of competitors such as Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6, MediaTek's Dimensity 9600 and Apple’s A20 Pro, which are expected to appear in devices announced later in September.

An FCC filing for the Pixel 11 Pro Fold confirms that Google will replace Samsung's Exynos modem family with MediaTek's M90 modem. The M90 is designed to support 5G download speeds of up to 12 Gbps, includes satellite connectivity, and can operate dual active 5G SIMs.

"The new modem should provide more reliable connectivity compared with previous Pixel models that used Samsung modems," a Google spokesperson said.

The hardware upgrades are expected to improve network performance for the upcoming Pixel devices.
