Google's Pixel 11 series expected to prioritize software over modest hardware upgrades
Leaks suggest the upcoming Pixel 11 lineup will retain similar battery capacity, modest charging speeds, and incremental camera improvements, while featuring a newer Tensor G6 chip that offers efficiency gains but falls short of rival performance.
Google is set to launch the Pixel 11 series with a continued emphasis on its AI-driven software experience, according to multiple leaks. The devices are rumored to keep battery capacities between 4,840 mAh and 5,000 mAh, similar to the current generation, and to offer charging rates of up to 37 W for larger models and 27 W for smaller handsets.
The upcoming Tensor G6 processor is expected to move to a smaller TSMC node and pair with a MediaTek M90 modem, which should improve power efficiency. It will feature a high-clocked Arm C1-Ultra core at 4.11 GHz and a PowerVR CXTP-48-1536 GPU, but analysts note that its graphics performance may still lag behind competing Snapdragon, Dimensity and Apple chips.
Camera hardware is slated for incremental upgrades: the base model may receive a new 50 MP primary sensor, while the Pro variants could gain a 48 MP ultrawide lens and a 48 MP telephoto module with 5× optical zoom. Google also plans to introduce a new Metis ISP that supports 4K 30 fps video with cinematic blur and enhanced low-light capabilities.
Memory configurations appear to be reduced, with an 8 GB RAM option for the standard Pixel 11 and a 12 GB option for the Pixel 11 Pro Fold, compared with 12 GB and 16 GB minimums on the previous generation.
Industry observers say the combination of modest battery and charging improvements, a processor that prioritizes efficiency over raw power, and only modest camera enhancements could leave the Pixel 11 series trailing flagship rivals from Samsung, OPPO, Xiaomi and others that are pushing larger batteries, faster charging and higher-resolution sensors.
