When the ten-day period elapsed, the bill automatically took effect, with the president’s signature still withheld, AP News said. The Guardian added that the automatic enactment occurred despite the ongoing standoff over the separate voting legislation. CBS News confirmed the legislation became law after Trump’s refusal, and the BBC reported the same outcome, noting Congress had passed the act.
