Justin Bieber added to FIFA World Cup final halftime lineup
Justin Bieber will join Madonna, Shakira, BTS and other acts for an 11-minute halftime show at the World Cup final on July 19, with proceeds supporting FIFA's education fund.
Justin Bieber has been confirmed as one of the performers for the halftime show at the FIFA World Cup final scheduled for July 19 in New York. He will share the stage with headliners Madonna, Shakira and BTS, as well as Afrobeats artist Burna Boy, conductor Gustavo Dudamel, the PS22 Chorus and Coldplay, which will also appear.
The 11-minute performance, curated by Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, is intended to raise awareness for the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, which aims to collect $100 million to improve children's access to education and soccer worldwide.
"The FIFA World Cup brings the world together in a way nothing else can," Bieber said in a statement, adding that he is grateful to be part of a show that supports education for children globally.
"The FIFA World Cup is one of the few moments that truly brings the entire world together," Burna Boy said, noting his role representing Africa on the inaugural World Cup final halftime show.
Additional entertainment will include performances by the PS22 Chorus, joined by Coldplay, and appearances by characters from "Sesame Street" along with Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy.
