Wreckage of K2 Airways Boeing 737 located off Pakistan coast
The debris of a K2 Airways cargo Boeing 737 that vanished during a flight from Sharjah to Karachi was found 53 nautical miles south of Ormara, with search teams still looking for the five crew members.
The Pakistan Airports Authority announced that the wreckage of a K2 Airways Boeing 737 cargo aircraft was recovered 53 nautical miles south of the port of Ormara after a 12-hour search operation. The plane had lost contact with air traffic control on Tuesday night while en route from Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, to Karachi, Pakistan, after reporting navigational system problems and descending rapidly.
Preliminary flight-tracking data showed the aircraft experienced a loss of altitude, a brief climb, and then a second sudden loss of altitude, according to Flightradar24. Search and rescue efforts involved multiple agencies, and officials said they continue to search for the five missing crew members.
"Efforts are underway to locate the five missing crew members," the authority said.
Further details will be released as the investigation proceeds.
