The fragile ceasefire between the United States and Iran broke down after a series of strikes on Thursday, with Iran’s state media reporting attacks on military facilities in Bushehr and Konarak. A U.S. official told CNN that the United States was not currently conducting strikes, but said American forces were maintaining a target list and pausing attacks to allow diplomacy to work. Crews aboard the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln prepared fighter jets for potential operations in the Arabian Sea.

In Tehran, the funeral of former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei concluded with burial in Mashhad. His son, Mojtaba Khamenei, who has assumed the leadership role, was not seen at any of the ceremonies.
Israeli officials said they were not aware of any Israeli involvement in the reported strikes, while a U.S. official emphasized that Iran’s attacks on commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz were being treated as acts of terrorism.
The United States and Israel discussed continued coordination in a phone call between President Donald Trump and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, according to an Israeli readout.
