Boise foothills fire burns 2,000 acres, forces evacuations
Boise Fire officials said a vegetation fire near Crestline and Claremont Drives in the Boise foothills burned roughly 2,000 acres. The blaze prompted authorities to issue a text alert warning hikers on the Hulls Gulch trail to evacuate the area. Local emergency responders coordinated the evacuation of trail users as the fire continued to spread.
The Bureau of Land Management responded by closing the surrounding public lands it manages to the public. The temporary closure remained in effect while crews worked to contain the fire, according to KBOI.
