Vegetation fire spreads to about 2,000 acres in Boise foothills, prompting evacuations and land closures

Summary

A vegetation fire near Crestline and Claremont Drives in the Boise foothills has grown to roughly 2,000 acres, leading to evacuations, a text alert, and temporary closures of BLM-managed lands.

Boise Fire officials said a vegetation fire ignited in a foothills neighborhood near Crestline Drive and Claremont Drive and began moving uphill, prompting the request for air support and additional ground units. As of 4:45 p.m., no structures were reported threatened, but the blaze was estimated at about 2,000 acres.

Residents and users of the Hulls Gulch trail system were ordered to evacuate, and the department issued a text alert urging anyone in the immediate area to leave immediately. The Bureau of Land Management announced a temporary closure of its lands, roads and trails in the Boise Foothills, roughly two miles northwest of the city, effective from July 6 at 8:00 p.m. until July 11 at 11:59 p.m.; the closure does not affect privately owned property.

Authorities continue to monitor the situation and will provide updates as more information becomes available.
