Giant Eagle launches summer price cuts on over 300 items, President Trump applauds

Giant Eagle began a summer promotion on July 9 that reduces the price of more than 300 frequently purchased items, including proteins, produce and snack foods, by an average of 10% through Labor Day. The chain said the discounts are intended to help consumers manage seasonal grocery costs.

President Donald Trump posted on Truth Social that the price cuts are "wonderful news" and praised the retailer for helping "hardworking American families." He added that the move aligns with similar reductions announced earlier by Walmart and Sam’s Club, which also lowered prices on a range of products such as ground beef, beverages and household essentials.

"Giant Eagle, like Walmart, is stepping up in a big and bold way to answer my call to lower costs for working families," Trump wrote.

The White House has not issued a statement on the promotion, and a request for comment from Giant Eagle was not answered.
