Alberta and Ontario announce eastward oil pipeline plan

Alberta Premier Danielle Smith and Ontario Premier Doug Ford announced a proposal for a 3,300-kilometre pipeline that would transport up to 500,000 barrels of crude daily from Hardisty, Alberta, to Sarnia, Ontario. According to AP News, the plan envisions moving western Canadian oil eastward to serve new markets. The proposal also includes a long-term vision of extending the line to Atlantic export terminals.

The premiers said a feasibility study will be undertaken to assess the project's viability. The joint announcement highlighted the strategic importance of the project for Canada's energy landscape.
