Friend of missing teen Nolan Wells denies involvement amid speculation
Warren Hudson, identified as Nolan Wells' close friend, said rumors linking him to the teen's death are unfounded, while the family continues its own investigation.
Warren Hudson, who described himself as Nolan Wells' "best friend," told the New York Post that rumors suggesting he played a role in the teen's death are "crushing" and have caused him great distress. Hudson said there are no facts to support the speculation, noting that the internet often spreads unverified claims.
Wells, 18, disappeared during a July 4 boat outing and his body was recovered on July 6 on Horn Island’s shoreline. Authorities have not publicly identified any witnesses after 4:30 p.m. on the day of the disappearance.
The family has launched its own inquiry, including commissioning an independent autopsy. Nolan’s parents held a funeral service on Monday at Center Pointe Church in Ocean Springs, Mississippi, which was officiated by Rev. Al Sharpton. During the service, both Sharpton and filmmaker Tyler Perry pledged $50,000 each for information that could lead to a conviction in the case.
