Buckingham Palace says Prince Harry will not stay at the residence during UK visit
The palace denied that Prince Harry would be accommodated at Buckingham Palace, contradicting statements from his spokesperson about a withdrawn offer.
Prince Harry's planned stay at Buckingham Palace was called off after the palace said the duke missed a deadline to accept the invitation. Sources said the palace requires advance notice for hosting guests and did not receive a formal response before the deadline passed.
Harry's spokesperson had previously claimed the offer had been accepted and then withdrawn at the last minute, prompting questions about the change in position.
The five-day UK visit, which will mark the one-year countdown to the Invictus Games in Birmingham, will proceed without a stay at the royal residence. A source close to the duke indicated that his family will not accompany him on the London leg of the trip.
The visit also coincides with an upcoming court judgment in a lawsuit filed by Harry and other public figures against the publisher of the Daily Mail over alleged unlawful information gathering.
