Biohacker Bryan Johnson Diagnosed with Autoimmune Gastritis

Summary

Tech entrepreneur Bryan Johnson announced he has autoimmune gastritis, an incurable condition, and said he will continue experimental monitoring and treatment efforts.

Tech entrepreneur Bryan Johnson, known for publicly tracking his health metrics, disclosed on June 30 that doctors have diagnosed him with autoimmune gastritis, a condition in which the immune system attacks the stomach lining. He said the disease had gone undetected for years and attributed its development to earlier dietary habits that included fast food and sugary drinks.

"My stomach is eating itself," Johnson wrote on the social platform X.

He described a personal health history that involved weight gain, depression, and earlier autoimmune issues affecting his thyroid. Johnson noted that standard medical care for the disease focuses on symptom management rather than cure, citing risks such as nutritional deficiency, anemia and a potential increase in cancer risk.

"In the age of AI, multiomics, and custom-built DNA, proteins, and cells, no condition should be presumed incurable simply because no one has yet tried to cure it with today's stack," he added.

Johnson said his team will monitor diagnostic markers such as ferritin and iron levels, perform repeated biopsies, and explore treatment options based on the results. He continues to follow a low-calorie vegan diet, supplements, and regular medical examinations as part of his broader anti-aging regimen.

The entrepreneur, who sold his former payments company for $800 million in 2013, has invested heavily in personal health experiments, including extensive testing and procedures, and makes details of his protocol available on a public website.
