Paul Pelosi cited in California hit-and-run, faces misdemeanor charge

Resumen

Police say the 86-year-old husband of former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi struck a parked vehicle in Yountville, fled the scene and may be charged with a misdemeanor.

Police in Napa County said Paul Pelosi, 86, was driving a brown convertible in Yountville on Friday when he hit a legally parked car, stopped briefly, and then left the scene. A witness called 911, and deputies later found Pelosi’s vehicle with front-end damage about a quarter of a mile away. He told officers he knew he had struck something but could not recall the exact circumstances.

The sheriff’s office reported that no alcohol was detected in Pelosi’s system and that he was not arrested. Because no injuries occurred, officials recommended a misdemeanor charge for fleeing the scene. The department also referred him to the California Department of Motor Vehicles for a standard review of driving fitness for older drivers.

Pelosi previously pleaded guilty in 2022 to misdemeanor DUI charges in the same county, receiving a short jail term, probation, a mandatory drinking-driver program, an ignition interlock requirement and restitution and fines totaling roughly $7,000.
