Paul Pelosi Charged with Hit-and-Run in Napa County

Resumen

Police say 86-year-old Paul Pelosi, husband of former Speaker Nancy Pelosi, caused a hit-and-run on Yount Street in Yountville and faces a misdemeanor charge.

Police in Napa County said Paul Pelosi, 86, was identified as the driver of a brown convertible that struck a parked vehicle on Yount Street in Yountville on Friday afternoon. A witness reported the car hit the stationary vehicle, briefly stopped, and then fled the scene. Deputies later located the convertible, which had front-right damage matching the impact on the parked car, and confirmed Pelosi was behind the wheel.

Pelosi told investigators he hit something but did not know what it was and continued driving until his car became disabled. He was not arrested, which the sheriff's office said is typical for this type of misdemeanor. A California DMV re-evaluation referral is being filed because of his age, and officials said tests showed no suspicion of drug or alcohol impairment.

"We have determined Mr. Pelosi was the driver, but there is no indication of DUI," a sheriff’s office spokesperson said.

The office of former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has been contacted for comment.
