Colorado Governor Fires Two Clemency Board Members Over Confidentiality Breach
The Colorado governor, Jared Polis, dismissed two members of the state's clemency advisory board after they publicly disclosed the board's vote opposing his decision to commute the sentence of convicted election official Tina Peters, the Denver Post reported. The dismissed members were identified as Hannah Seigel Proff, Azra Taslimi and Eric Maruyama. According to CNN, the governor said their remarks violated the board's confidentiality rules and constituted a breach of trust.
Polis emphasized that maintaining the integrity of the clemency process required immediate action. The removals were confirmed, leaving the board to continue its work with the remaining members.
