Sixers president says Joel Embiid enthusiastic about Jaylen Brown trade

Philadelphia 76ers president of basketball operations Mike Gansey told 97.5 The Fanatic that center Joel Embiid is "excited" and "fired up" after the team acquired former Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown. Gansey said Embiid was in a good health state entering the offseason and expressed enthusiasm when contacted immediately after the trade. He added that the players are welcoming the new roster configuration and are eager to build chemistry.

Gansey acknowledged that Brown, a recent Second Team All-NBA selection with a high usage rate, will change the team's offensive dynamics. He noted Brown's experience playing a complementary role during the Celtics' 2024 championship run, suggesting adjustments will be required but are typical for championship-contending squads.

The discussion also touched on speculation that the Sixers could pursue free-agent LeBron James, with Gansey confirming the team’s interest without providing further details.
