Michael Weatherly to reprise Tony DiNozzo in NCIS season 24
Michael Weatherly will return to the CBS series NCIS for a season-long storyline in its 24th season, joining an expanding franchise that also includes a new prequel series.
Michael Weatherly is set to reappear as Tony DiNozzo in a season-long arc for the upcoming 24th season of CBS’s long-running drama NCIS. The casting follows recent news that Mark Harmon will reprise his role as Gibbs in the franchise’s prequel series NCIS: Origins. Weatherly first portrayed DiNozzo in a 2003 backdoor pilot on JAG before the character became a mainstay on NCIS, where he remained for 13 seasons and more than 300 episodes. He later made a cameo in season 21 and led the Paramount+ spin-off NCIS: Tony & Ziva.
The current NCIS ensemble includes Sean Murray, Wilmer Valderrama, Brian Dietzen, Diona Reasonover, Katrina Law and Gary Cole, with a team of executive producers overseeing the series. CBS Studios continues to expand the franchise, which also airs NCIS: Sydney and is developing NCIS: New York starring LL Cool J and Scott Caan, alongside the third season of NCIS: Origins.
"We are excited to welcome Michael back to the show," a CBS spokesperson said.
Weatherly previously starred in the legal drama Bull from 2016 to 2022, a tenure that included allegations of sexual harassment made by actress Eliza Dushku.
