Vera C. Rubin Observatory starts ten-year LSST program
The Vera C. Rubin Observatory in Chile began the ten-year Legacy Survey of Space and Time. The survey employs the facility’s 6,600-pound camera to repeatedly image the southern sky.
It will collect data for research on solar-system objects. It will also support studies of the Milky Way and dark matter. CNN reported the launch of the continuous imaging program.
