Federal judge blocks USPS mail-in ballot rule

U. S. District Judge Emmet Sullivan in Washington, D. C. , blocked the United States Postal Service's plan to implement a Trump-directed rule on mail-in ballots, saying it likely violated a settlement with the NAACP, CNN reported.

He added that the proposal would tighten ballot handling in a way that conflicted with the agreement. Al Jazeera later reported that Sullivan issued an order granting the NAACP’s request for enforcement, confirming that the USPS proposal breached the settlement. The order prevents the Postal Service from moving forward with the rule. The decision was welcomed by NAACP president Derrick Johnson, who said it protected voters' rights.
