Pentagon establishes autonomy portfolio manager for unmanned systems
U. S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth signed a memorandum that created a Direct Reporting Portfolio Manager for autonomy (DRPM-UxS) within the Pentagon, Breaking Defense reported. The memorandum established the DRPM-UxS as a new office to oversee unmanned aerial, ground and surface systems across the Department of Defense.
The manager will be responsible for integrating the majority of Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine unmanned vehicle programs. By consolidating these programs under a single reporting line, the office centralizes authority for autonomous systems. The change reflects a move to streamline oversight of the Pentagon’s unmanned capabilities.
