U.S. Navy helicopter makes emergency water landing in Arabian Sea, one crew member missing
Three of the four crew members of an MH-60S Sea Hawk assigned to the carrier USS George H.W. Bush were rescued after an emergency water landing, while a search continues for the fourth sailor.
Three of the four crew members of an MH-60S Sea Hawk helicopter were rescued after the aircraft performed an emergency water landing in the Arabian Sea early Wednesday, U.S. Naval Forces Central Command said. The incident occurred at about 3:30 a.m. Eastern time (approximately 11 a.m. local time). The rescued sailors were taken aboard the carrier USS George H.W. Bush and were reported to be in stable condition.
U.S. officials said there is no indication the helicopter was shot down or otherwise targeted by hostile forces. Navy assets in the region are continuing a search for the fourth crew member, who remains missing.
The helicopter is assigned to the USS George H.W. Bush, one of two U.S. aircraft carriers operating in the Middle East since late April. The carrier has been part of a broader U.S. naval presence in the area following the recent lifting of the blockade on vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz.
