Russian couple arrested after scaling Empire State Building antenna and displaying love banner
According to AP News, Russian couple Angela Nikolau and Ivan Beerkus climbed the antenna of New York’s Empire State Building and unfurled a banner promoting love and peace. The banner also featured a marriage proposal that they announced from the building’s summit. CBS News reported that the pair reached the top of the structure before displaying the banner.
New York City police later detained the duo at the site. CNN noted that they were taken into custody while investigators continued to assess the incident. AP News added that they face burglary and reckless endangerment charges.
