Upcoming PC title Cinder City lists 64 GB RAM as recommended specification

Summary

The South Korean publisher NC has added a Steam listing for Cinder City that recommends 64 GB of RAM, a requirement far higher than most recent PC releases.

South Korean publisher NC (formerly NCSoft) has posted system requirements for its upcoming open-world co-op shooter Cinder City on Steam. The game, set in a near-future dystopian Seoul, lists a minimum of 32 GB RAM, an Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 GPU and an Intel i5-10400 or AMD Ryzen 5 3600 CPU. The recommended configuration calls for 64 GB RAM, an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060 GPU, and an Intel i7-12700 or AMD Ryzen 7800X3D processor.

By contrast, recent PC titles such as Forza Horizon 6, 007 First Light, Death Stranding 2, Resident Evil Requiem and Crimson Desert recommend only 16 GB of RAM, while a few demanding games like Microsoft Flight Simulator suggest 32 GB. If the listed recommendation is typical for launch, Cinder City could become the first major PC release to advise 64 GB of memory.

The recommendation arrives amid a sharp increase in memory prices, with 64 GB DDR5 kits currently costing between $500 and $1,000 according to PC Part Picker. Industry observers note that a lawsuit filed against Samsung, SK Hynix and Micron alleges price-fixing and supply restrictions that have contributed to the rise. The broader trend of higher component costs has led other manufacturers, including Microsoft and Apple, to raise prices on recent hardware releases.
