Sony plans staged shutdown of PlayStation Store on PS3 and Vita
Eurogamer reported that Sony announced plans to close the PlayStation Store for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita, with early shutdowns slated for certain Latin American and Middle Eastern markets. The company said the service would eventually be terminated worldwide. Game Informer later noted that Sony specified the rollout, stating that closures will start in select markets next year and that the global shutdown will follow thereafter.
The phased approach is intended to give users time to download purchased content before the stores become unavailable. Sony did not give an exact date for the final global termination.
