Copernicus Satellite Services Record Highest Ocean Temperature in June
CNN reported that the average global sea-surface temperature reached a record high in June, climbing to 69. 5°F and surpassing the previous June peak. The report linked the rise to the combined effects of El Niño and ongoing human-driven warming and warned of heightened weather extremes.
Later, the EU’s Copernicus Climate Change and Marine Services confirmed the record, stating that June’s ocean temperature exceeded all prior measurements. Their analysis echoed the earlier attribution to El Niño and continued anthropogenic warming. Both sources cautioned that the trend could intensify future heat waves.
