Trump's $TRUMP memecoin generates $636 million for president as investors lose $3.8 billion

Resumen

Data shows that about two-thirds of the 1.48 million wallets that bought the $TRUMP token have lost money, totaling roughly $3.8 billion, while former president Donald Trump reported earnings of $636 million from the same cryptocurrency.

Blockchain analytics firm Nansen reported that 988,905 of the 1.48 million wallets that purchased the $TRUMP memecoin since its launch three days before Donald Trump’s second inauguration have incurred losses, amounting to $3.81 billion as of the end of June. The former president’s most recent financial disclosure indicates he earned $636 million from the token, which is owned largely—about 80 %—by Trump Organization affiliates CIC Digital and Fight Fight Fight LLC. Trump also receives transaction fees each time the coin is traded, generating revenue irrespective of price movements.

The token, described on its website as a symbolic expression of support rather than an investment, peaked at $75.35 and fell to $1.68, a decline of roughly 97 %. While fewer than 500,000 investors realized gains totaling $4 billion, the majority of retail holders experienced losses. Early buyers captured most of the upside, a pattern typical of meme-coin markets.

Trump announced the coin on his social-media platforms X and Truth Social in January, urging supporters to join his “Trump Community.” A White House spokesperson said the president does not take part in business decisions and denied any conflict of interest, adding that neither he nor his family has engaged or will engage in such conflicts. The White House did not immediately respond to further inquiries.
