Miami Heat deletes YouTube link that sparked LeBron James rumors
The Heat removed a YouTube link titled as a LeBron James press conference, which team officials said was posted by mistake while preparing for a possible signing.
The Miami Heat's social media accounts posted, then removed, a YouTube link on Tuesday that appeared to lead to a "LeBron James Introductory Press Conference | July 27, 2026" livestream. The video thumbnail showed a graphic for Dwyane Wade's statue unveiling, prompting speculation that the team had inadvertently disclosed a signing.
A spokesperson for the Heat told the Miami Herald that the video was not authentic. ESPN reporter Shams Charania added that the team's social media department was preparing for a potential LeBron James signing and mistakenly posted the link before deleting it.
James, 41, is the NBA's oldest active player and is currently a free agent after announcing he will not return to the Los Angeles Lakers. His decision has kept the league's offseason in suspense, with several teams, including the Heat, Cleveland Cavaliers, Philadelphia 76ers and Golden State Warriors, mentioned as possible destinations. James began his career with the Cavaliers in 2003, later won two championships with the Heat, returned to Cleveland for another title, and spent eight seasons with the Lakers before entering free agency.
