Paris Deputy Mayor Blames U.S. Emissions for Deadly European Heatwave

Paris deputy mayor for international relations Audrey Pulvar blamed the United States for Europe's deadly heatwave, citing its high greenhouse-gas emissions and widespread air-conditioning use. The heatwave, described as record-breaking, has killed more than 1,300 people across the continent, the New York Post reported. Pulvar said the United States' emissions contribute significantly to global warming, which intensifies extreme temperature events in Europe.

She added that the proliferation of air-conditioning devices further raises demand for electricity, often generated from fossil fuels, exacerbating the climate impact. The comments were made during a press briefing in Paris as European authorities continue to grapple with the severe weather conditions.
