President Joe Biden referred to former President Donald Trump as a "loser" during remarks at a gala in Maryland, saying the former leader was preoccupied with vanity projects at the White House and the Kennedy Center. Biden cited specific initiatives, including an alleged arch built in Trump's honor and the hiring of a pool contractor to repair the Reflecting Pool, describing them as examples of unnecessary extravagance.
"Whoa, what a loser," Biden said, adding that the Reflecting Pool "reflects something even worse: the narcissism and incompetence at the core of this administration."
The comments came as the Trump administration faced legal and congressional scrutiny over the Kennedy Center renovation and a proposed White House ballroom. A federal judge recently ordered the Kennedy Center to explain the presence of a tarp and scaffolding after the removal of Trump's name from the venue.
Biden's remarks were made on the two-year anniversary of his performance in a presidential debate, an event that had previously sparked discussion within the Democratic Party about his candidacy.
The White House has not responded to requests for comment.
