Three Federal Firefighters Die, Two Hurt in Utah-Colorado Blaze
CBS News reported that three firefighters died and two were wounded while responding to the Knowles and Gore fires near the Utah-Colorado border, as severe fire weather intensified a broader wildfire surge across the western United States. The incident occurred amid a period of heightened fire activity in the region. KUTV later reported that state officials confirmed the three fatalities were federal wildland firefighters and that two others were seriously injured while battling the same fires. Officials, including Governor Spencer Cox, said the three federal firefighters had died and two were seriously injured.
The U. S. Wildland Fire Service was among the agencies coordinating the suppression effort, according to the statements.
