Russian missiles and drones strike Kyiv, injuring five and razing an apartment block
The Kyiv Independent reported that early on June 28 Russian ballistic missiles struck Kyiv, causing explosions, igniting fires and prompting citywide air-raid alerts. The report said at least two people were injured in the initial attacks. The blasts also sparked several fires across residential districts.
Later the same night, the outlet said a second wave of Russian ballistic missiles and strike drones hit Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities, wounding at least five civilians and leveling an apartment block. State emergency officials warned that further attacks were expected, and air-defence units intercepted some of the missiles, though several reached the city.
