Mangione's Plea Talks and Hearing Delayed After Elevator Mishap
Luigi Mangione and U. S. prosecutors held plea negotiations in Manhattan ahead of his federal hearing, according to ABC News. His defense attorneys later said reports of a plea deal were unfounded, as reported by TMZ.
Both sides declined to comment further on the discussions, ABC News noted. The trial was postponed after Mangione became trapped in an elevator at the Thurgood Marshall United States Courthouse, NBC News reported. The judge then set a new jury-selection schedule, NBC News said.
