Detroit Lions cornerback Terrion Arnold was arrested on Wednesday, June 24, on four counts of kidnapping and four counts of armed robbery in Tampa, Florida. He surrendered to authorities at the Orient Road jail and remains in custody, with the charges carrying a possible life-sentence.
The Florida State Attorney's Office alleges Arnold coordinated the robbery and beating of his personal driver and two associates after accusing the driver of arranging the theft of more than $250,000 in cash and goods from an Airbnb rental in February. The driver denied involvement, and Largo police consider the theft case inactive.
Arnold's management firm, EAG Sports Management, said there is "no credible evidence linking Mr. Arnold to these allegations" and suggested the prosecution relies on testimony from convicted felons who may have incentives to shift blame. The firm added that Arnold looks forward to his day in court and expects vindication.
The Lions issued a brief statement acknowledging awareness of the legal situation and declined further comment out of respect for the ongoing process.
The alleged co-defendants include Boakai Hilton, described by Arnold as a childhood best friend, who faces multiple felony robbery and kidnapping charges, and three others—Lyndell Hudson, Christion Williams and Freddie Hughes—who also face life-sentence possibilities. Two additional participants, Arianna Del Valle and Jasmine Randazzo, entered plea agreements; Randazzo received a four-year prison term and six years of probation, while Del Valle will be sentenced after further proceedings.
According to police records, Arnold reported the theft of watches, jewelry, designer items, a cell phone and about $100,000 in cash from his rental unit on February 3. The alleged retaliation involved pistol-whipping and gunpoint interrogation of the driver and his friends on February 4. Arnold claimed he was in San Francisco for the Super Bowl at the time, though police footage shows his interview ended on February 3.
The Lions have not commented on Arnold's future with the team. Coach Dan Campbell previously expressed confidence in Arnold's innocence during the investigation, and the player has not provided further comment since the recent minicamp.
