Teen Fatality Prompts Suspension of Central Park Carriage Rides
Fox News reported that an 18-year-old Indian visitor died after the horse pulling a carriage bolted and threw the vehicle in New York’s Central Park. The Guardian added that the horse collided with another carriage and the vehicle overturned, hurling the teen from the seat.
AP News said city leaders and the Central Park Conservancy called for an immediate halt to the 150-year-old carriage industry while safety measures are reviewed. Later, ABC7 New York noted that the Transport Workers Union suspended all carriage rides in the park, and NBC News reported renewed calls from officials and advocacy groups to ban the attraction altogether.
