Trump claims over 100 million barrels of oil and 200 ships moved through Strait of Hormuz

President Donald Trump said a "secret mission" ordered last month enabled more than 100 million barrels of oil and over 200 commercial ships to transit the Strait of Hormuz. He posted the claim on his social-media platform, adding that the effort was "wildly successful" because the United States controls the waterway.

Trump told reporters in the Oval Office that the operation involved moving ships "late at night with no lights" to avoid detection, and that Iran was unaware of the activity until now.

U.S. officials have not confirmed the numbers cited by the president. A coordination effort reported by The New York Times indicated that about 70 commercial vessels had been guided through the strait in late March, with many ships disabling transponders to reduce visibility. The effort differs from the short-lived "Project Freedom" announced in early May, which was paused after two days.
