Virginia Judge Extends Block on Trump Administration's $1.8 Billion Settlement Fund
U. S. District Judge Leonie Brinkema in Virginia denied a request for a temporary restraining order that would have halted the Trump administration’s $1. 776 billion settlement fund, AP reported. The court noted that the litigation remained open for further arguments.
She subsequently ordered that the injunction against the $1. 8 billion anti-weaponization fund stay in effect while the case proceeds, AP noted. NBC added that Brinkema indefinitely extended the preliminary injunction after the Justice Department failed to confirm under oath that the program was terminated. The indefinite extension prevents any disbursement from the fund until the department satisfies the court’s evidentiary requirement.
