Brendan Sorsby to forgo Texas Tech eligibility and pursue NFL supplemental draft

Quarterback Brendan Sorsby announced that he will withdraw the lawsuit that temporarily reinstated his NCAA eligibility for the 2026 season and will instead seek entry into the NFL supplemental draft. The decision follows the end of his collegiate playing career, which included two years at Indiana University and two at the University of Cincinnati, and a brief legal battle that would have allowed him to return to Texas Tech.

Texas Tech officials, including Board of Regents chairman Cody Campbell, President Lawrence Schovanec and Athletics Director Kirby Hocutt, released statements supporting the university’s position. Sorsby posted a message on social media expressing gratitude for support from family, coaches, teammates and the community, and said he remains focused on personal development both on and off the field.

The move ends Sorsby’s potential participation with Texas Tech and shifts his focus to a professional football pathway.
