Drone strikes ignite fires at multiple fuel terminals and military sites in Crimea

Summary

Overnight drone attacks hit several locations in Russian-occupied Crimea, sparking explosions and fires at fuel terminals, a fishing port, a railway bridge and air-defence installations.

Multiple explosions were reported across the Russian-occupied Crimean Peninsula during an overnight drone attack, prompting Russian air-defence activity in Kerch, Bakhchysarai, Sevastopol, Simferopol and several districts. The strikes forced a temporary suspension of traffic on the Kerch Bridge.

Satellite monitoring and local reports confirmed fires at the AEGAZ liquefied-gas terminal and a nearby TES-operated fuel depot in Kerch, which store mazut and diesel for the Crimea-Caucasus ferry service. A 66-kilometre smoke plume was observed from the port area. Across the Kerch Strait, a fire was also recorded at Port Kavkaz, which houses a fuel terminal and oil depot.

Additional thermal signatures were detected at the Chonhar railway bridge junction, at a Russian military railway battalion facility (Unit 98546) in Kerch, and at Cape Zyuk, a site used for Russian air-defence radars and S-300/S-400 missile systems.

The attacks follow a series of recent Ukrainian strikes on logistics and energy infrastructure in Crimea and elsewhere, including gas compressor stations and a bridge over the Henichesk Strait.
